Your documents stay on your PC
Documents and OCR data are never sent to an external server automatically. What is exchanged automatically is the minimum needed to activate a licence and check for updates; beyond that, only what you choose to send yourself when submitting an enquiry or an error report is transmitted.
What is exchanged with our servers
- What is needed to activate and verify a licence
- A request asking whether an update exists
- Diagnostic logs — you decide whether to send them. Nothing is sent automatically.
What is not sent automatically
- Original documents and scanned images
- Text read by OCR
- File names and file paths (the activity log is an exception when you turn on the diagnostic attachment)
- Search terms
Common questions
Are my documents uploaded to a server?
No. Neither the originals nor the text read by OCR is sent. Documents remain as files in the Windows folders you chose.
Is recognised text written into my files?
No. Recognised text is not written into the file (XMP). If you email a document, the OCR result does not travel with it. Text is kept in the index, or in a hidden sidecar (.rbtext) next to files outside the index.
Can it open Hancom HWP files?
Yes. HWP and HWPX open in the same viewer and their contents are searchable — without Microsoft Office or Hancom Office installed.
Can I keep using my existing folders?
Yes. Not moving documents into a separate repository is the starting point of the design.
Do I need an internet connection?
Only for licence activation and update checks. Viewing, search and OCR work without a connection.
Will it touch files already sitting in the folder?
No. Automatic filing only handles documents created or changed after you chose the folder. Even with 5,000 files already there, the past is left alone.
