Revision history
2026-09-26 Article 11 — payment and refunds added · Article 12 — severability added · Article 1 — transitional clause for the former licence packs removed (previously 2026-08-16)

1. What the licence gives you

Provided that you comply with these terms, the company grants you the right to use the software within the limits of the edition you purchased and the number of devices you purchased. That right is non-exclusive and non-transferable. The software is not sold but licensed for use, and all rights including copyright belong to the company.

The number of devices you may use is the number you chose at the time of purchase. Free is one device, and for paid editions you may choose up to 10 devices at purchase (beyond that, please contact us). This is a limit on devices, unrelated to the number of users. This is not a centrally managed product in which document indexes and settings synchronise automatically across several devices.

When you replace a device you have been using, deactivate it on that device first and you can then activate it on another device — how to move to another device.

2. What you may not do

  • Decompiling or disassembling the software, or attempting to extract its source
  • Circumventing or disabling licence verification, or distributing a means of doing so
  • Reselling, renting out, or sharing licence keys or tokens
  • Using the software on more devices than are permitted
  • Using the company's trade name or trademarks without the company's written consent

Where the law expressly permits something (for example, the minimum analysis needed to achieve interoperability), that permission prevails over the restrictions above.

As regards the open-source components provided with the software, the rights granted to you by the open-source licence concerned prevail over the other provisions of these terms (including Article 2), and these terms do not restrict those rights. Which components are included, the conditions attached to each, and where to obtain the source are set out in the open-source notice.

3. Trial

Paid editions can be tried for 30 days. When the trial period ends, the software does not lock — it steps down to the Free edition — the documents you scanned in the meantime remain in the actual folders you chose, and you can still find them by full-text search. Turning back the system clock, or anything similar done to extend the trial period, is treated as a breach of Article 2.

4. Updates

Paid editions come with a period during which you can receive updates. What counts is the day a new version was released, not the day you download it — versions released within that period remain available to you afterwards. Once the period has passed, the version you have already installed can still be used with no time limit. More details.

The company may improve, change, or discontinue features. It will not, however, make a change of a kind that stops an already installed version from working.

5. Documents and personal data

The software does not send your documents or the text read from them (OCR) to any external server. Documents remain in the folders you choose, and managing and backing up those folders is your responsibility. Everything that is exchanged is set out in Privacy and outbound communication, and that document forms part of these terms.

6. Limits of warranty

The company does not warrant that the software will recognise documents accurately or that it will suit your particular purpose. OCR, form recognition, and field extraction are statistical estimates and can be wrong. Where accuracy matters — tax, medical, or legal documents, for instance — a person must check the results.

It does not take the place of the original

A scan is a copy of the original. Do not discard a document that legislation requires you to keep in its original form merely because you have scanned it.

7. Limitation of liability

The company is not liable for data loss, loss of business, or indirect damage arising from use of the software. Even where the company is found liable, the total amount will not exceed the amount you paid for the licence concerned.

This provision does not, however, exclude damage caused by the company's intent or gross negligence, nor any liability that consumer protection legislation does not allow to be limited.

8. Termination

You may end these terms at any time by deleting the software. If you breach Article 2, the company may terminate the licence concerned. Even after termination, the document files you created are yours and you can continue to open and use them.

9. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of Korea. Disputes are subject to the court having jurisdiction over the location of the company's principal office as the court of first instance; a user who is a consumer may bring the action before the court having jurisdiction over their address.

10. Changes to these terms

When these terms change, we post them on this page together with the effective date. Changes unfavourable to users are announced 30 days before they take effect. The scope of use of a perpetual licence you have already purchased is governed by the terms in force at the time of purchase.

11. Payment and refunds

Online sales of RichBinder are made through Paddle. Paddle, as the Authorized Reseller, concludes the sales transaction and processes the payment, while the company is the Supplier that develops the software and provides the product and the right to use it. Your payment statement may show a name related to Paddle rather than the company.

The standards and procedures for refunds and withdrawal of subscription are those set out in Refunds and right of withdrawal, and that document forms part of these terms. Within 7 days of payment we refund the full amount without asking why, and if you stop a subscription part way through, we return the amount corresponding to the period you did not use.

Monthly and annual subscriptions renew automatically when the billing period ends. You can turn automatic renewal off at any time from your account screen, and even once it is off you can use the period you have already paid for until it ends.

12. Severability

If any provision of these Terms, or part of one, is held under applicable law not to form part of the contract, or to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect, except where applicable law provides otherwise.

This does not apply where the remaining provisions alone cannot achieve the purpose of the contract, or where the result would be unfairly disadvantageous to one party, or where applicable law otherwise does not recognise the contract as a whole.
