Frequently asked questions

What people ask most before buying. For problems while using it, see technical support.

What it is

What is RichBinder?

It is local document management software for Windows that works inside your existing folders. Scanned documents stay as real files, Office · Hancom HWP · PDF · images open in one viewer, and OCR makes their contents searchable.

Which version of Windows do I need?

Windows 10 1809 or later, 64-bit. Memory: 4 GB minimum, 8 GB when using AI features, 16 GB recommended.

Can I keep using my existing folders?

Yes. Not moving documents into a separate repository is the starting point of the design. Even when files are filed, they stay yours as ordinary files and folders.

Is it a web service or an installed application?

It is an installed Windows desktop application.

Viewing and finding

Can it preview Office and Hancom documents?

Yes. DOC · DOCX · XLS · XLSX · PPT · PPTX · HWP · HWPX open without Microsoft Office or Hancom Office installed. This works in the free edition too.

Can it find text inside scanned PDFs?

Yes. OCR reads the contents and search results tell you which page the match is on.

If my trial ends, do I lose what I built?

No. Filed documents, document types and samples all remain, and search stays in the free edition. Only future work stops.

Worries about automatic filing

Will it touch files already in the folder?

No. It only handles what is created or changed after you chose the folder. Even with 5,000 files already there, the past is left alone.

Can I undo a wrong move?

Yes. A record is written before anything moves, and undo has no time limit.

What happens if it cannot decide where a file goes?

It does not move it — the file goes to the review box. If it cannot build a name, it moves the file but keeps the original name and flags it. It never creates a broken path.

Will it slow my PC down?

It is built not to. Background work must pass idle, power, time-of-day and hourly-limit gates before it runs.

Does anything leave my PC

Do you upload my documents to the cloud?

No. Original documents, scanned images, OCR text and search terms are not sent to a server automatically. Only when you submit an enquiry or an error report yourself are the text you write and the diagnostic information you selected transmitted. More

Does the AI run in the cloud?

No. The AI runs on your own PC, and works on networks with no internet access. More
